Dome

Notes:

Dome was inspired in part by a line from Percy Bysshe-Shelley’s Adonaïs. It employs electronically-generated sounds and uses a traditional chromatic pitch system, organized by familiar principles such as inversion and retrogression. The form is tripartite and brief, the first and last sections being varied durational retrogrades of one another. Dome is a compact allegory for life, which arises suddenly from the fabric of eternity, beautiful for a season yet returning at a moment’s notice to the timelessness from which it came.
